Read all instructions first.  Look over the illustrations before beginning.  All seams are a scant ¼”.  Use small pieces of polyfil stuffing for best results.  Every effort has been made to create accurate instructions and directions for you.

Doll
You can cut out the doll pattern and tape the arms and legs where they go and trace the doll as one unit, on doubled fabric, if you like or fold your fabric in ½, selvages together; trace 1 body, 2 legs, 2 arms. Trace the face at this time as well.

Rough cut out about ½” outside the lines.  Stitch on the traced line for the body (be sure to leave the opening for arms, legs and turning). Stitch arms and legs with a 1.0 stitch.  Trim seam to 1/8”, clip curves and turn body, arms and legs right side out.  Round out end of arm and leg and head with a chop stick or other tool.  Stuff only the first ½ of the arms and legs firmly and then place only a very slight bit of stuffing in the upper arms and legs.  Place the arms in the body so they angle down and legs are straight, inside the body where indicated on pattern and either hand or machine stitch to body, wrap thread around the top of each leg and arm, pull snug and tie off.  This gives the limbs more movement.  Stuff head and neck firmly.  You can put a 4” dowel in the head, through the neck and into the body for stability.  Use small bunches of stuffing to have the best results.  Now stuff the body firmly and stitch opening closed.

Face
Start by poking the needle through from the top of the head.
Wiggle the thread as you pull, before you make a stitch so that the knot will enter the head where it will not be seen.  Embroider mouth with 3 strands of pink thread.  Eyes are made with black acrylic paint and the end of a small rounded paint brush.  Dip end of brush in paint and touch to face, repeat for other eye, dip a pin head in white paint and touch to top of eye for a highlight, as shown on pattern.  Allow to dry.  Make eyelash marks now.

Nose is made the same way with using pink paint.
You may also use tiny black buttons for eyes and a bitsy pink heart button for nose, if desired.

Hair

Cut a piece of cardboard 2 ½” long.
Wrap light brown yard around this without pulling tight, 6 times.  Slide off.  You have a circle of yarn, fold this together and tie a tight knot around the middle of this, with a piece of yarn.   Repeat until you have 25 to 30 bunches of hair.

Now starting at the middle front, with thread doubled, place one piece lengthwise so the knot is just in front of the seam towards the face (this will make bangs) and stitch with 3 stitches to the head.

Place one piece on either side of this going along the seam line and stitch down.  Now beginning slightly in front of the seam line, stitch bunches one at a time, with one going along the seam and one almost crossing the seam line, stitch the hair until you are about 3” from the neck.  Stitch them sort of close together.  Place a second row next to the first on the other side of the head seam.  Refer to pattern for placement.  Hair should be full, except for the bangs.  You may add more hair if you like.  Blush cheeks with a piece of stuffing rubbed in pink blush.  Set aside.

Dress
Cut 1 – 11” x 7 skirt front
Cut 2 - 5 3/4" x 7"
Stitch the back seam a scant 1/4" except for 1" at one end.

Cut 2 – 5” x 6” sleeves
Trace neck guide onto doubled fabric, Cut out, outside the traced line. mark center back line.
Stitch on either side of the traced back center line - leaving an opening to turn. Stitch around the yoke neck, clip curves, turn, press.

Cut 2 – 9” x 6 ½” for pantaloons, mark crotch 2 ½” up and 4 ½” in from sides.

Yoke - Stitch on the traced line
Stitch on either side of the traced back center line - leaving an opening to turn. Stitch around the yoke neck, clip curves, turn, press.
If you want to place trim on yoke, do so now.

Sleeve
Refer to diagram.
Gather top of sleeves with 2 rows of stitching, fit to yoke where indicated on pattern.  Pin in place and stitch, press, repeat for other sleeve.  Turn edge of each sleeve under a scant ¼” twice and stitch

Skirt
Run 2 gathering stitches close together across the front/back pieces, along the 11" side and 5 3/4" sides, this is the top of the skirt.

On skirt back, fold in center back seam a scant ¼” once, 1” down.  This will allow the dress to go on the doll.

Pull thread to match the yoke front and back pieces, pin in place, adjust gathers and stitch, see diagram.    Sew the rest of back seam to the bottom of the dress, press.   Fold dress in half with right sides together, stitch the sleeve and side seam of dress, repeat for other side.  Clip under arm and turn, press (see diagram).   Turn bottom hem up 1 1/4', turn top of hem down ¼”, press and stitch.  Place trim on skirt as desired.  Place on doll, with doubled thread; catch both sides of top of dress and pull the dress snuggly around the neck.  Stitch the open back seam of the dress closed.

Pantaloons
See diagram.
Stitch the sides of the pantaloons.  Press bottom of pantaloon leg up 1”, do not stitch yet.  Unfold and stitch on either side of traced line for crotch, clip corners, turn right side out and press.  Turn top edge of pantaloon down ½”, press.  With a double thread, by hand, gather the top of the pantaloons, all the way around.  Place on doll and pull snuggly.  Tie off.  Make a few stitches around the top, through the doll and pantaloon, to secure to doll.

Now on the leg fold, gather the pantaloon leg 3/4” up from the bottom hem of each leg.
Pull snug and tie off.  Blush hands and feet as desired.

Hair Bow
Cut 2 - 1 ½” x 22” from 2” ribbon.
Tie a bow, trim ends.  Stitch to head at the right side, stitch flower over the front of the bow if desired.  Refer to photo for placement.  Blush cheeks again.

Leg Ribbon

Cut a piece of 1/8” ribbon, 24” long.
Find the center and stitch to the center back of the leg, 1 ½” up from the bottom.  Now wrap like a ballerina up the leg making 2 crosses of the ribbon on the front of the leg, tie a knot, then bow, stitch through bow a couple of times, repeat for other leg.  Blush feet and hands.
